Beware of Phishing Scams, Protect Your Personal Information

 

The Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited (HKMC) and its subsidiaries (including HKMC Annuity Limited (HKMCA), HKMC Insurance Limited, HKMC Mortgage Management Limited and HKMC Premier Solutions Limited) (collectively, HKMC Group) would like to alert you on communications purported to be from the HKMC Group.

 

The HKMC Group would never ask you to provide any personal information by phone call, pre-recorded voice message, e-mail or instant electronic message (e.g. SMS, WhatsApp, WeChat, etc), unless arising from handling your requests or enquiries.

 

You should always protect your personal information. To protect you from becoming a victim of phishing scams, you are reminded:

 

  1. To be alert about the content of the phone call, pre-recorded voice message, email and instant electronic message, especially the domain of the e-mail address and the hyperlinks or contact details provided for verification purpose;
  2. Not to click or open any hyperlink, attachment or QR code in any suspicious email or instant electronic message;
  3. Not to reveal your bank, credit card, investment, insurance and / or mandatory provident fund account, login credential and / or other key personal information to anyone, or through hyperlinks, websites or software applications from unknown sources or suspicious e-mails or instant electronic messages; and
  4. To regularly change the passwords of your online services and to use enhanced security measures, e.g. enabling the two-factor or biometric authentication.

 

If you receive a suspicious communication purported to be from any HKMC Group member, please call to verify as follows:

 

  • HKMCA - Customer Service Hotline at 2512 5000
  • Other members of the HKMC Group - HKMC general line at 2536 0000

 

If you have provided personal information or conducted any financial transactions in a suspicious communication, you should also report promptly to the Police.
